Debashis Sen Gupta has been appointed as Director / Head of Project Management & Sales – India at GKW Consult GmbH, bringing 26+ years of experience across capital projects, infrastructure consulting, project management and business development. In his new role, Sen Gupta will lead the Project Management and Business Development functions in India, with a mandate spanning project and program governance, project-management oversight, client engagement, new project acquisition and development of GKW Consult’s consulting portfolio in the Indian market.
With more than 15 years of experience as a Team Leader across various projects, Sen Gupta has led multidisciplinary teams and coordinated complex, multi-stakeholder assignments across India. His professional journey combines project leadership, consulting, stakeholder management and business development, with experience working across government, private-sector and institutional environments.
Over the course of his career, Sen Gupta has been involved in projects and advisory assignments for various Central and State Government departments and agencies, while also engaging with consultants, contractors, private-sector stakeholders and institutional organisations. His experience includes World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded initiatives, PPP and multilateral frameworks, as well as international technical collaborations involving Germany and Israel.
His project experience spans the wider infrastructure lifecycle, covering project conceptualisation, feasibility studies, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), bid-process and procurement management, contract administration, project planning and monitoring, execution oversight and project governance. He has worked across a diverse range of sectors, including industrial and infrastructure development, industrial parks, IT/ITES and electronics, textiles, food processing, tourism, highways, water supply, institutional infrastructure, urban development, transportation and social infrastructure.
Before joining GKW Consult GmbH, Sen Gupta held leadership and professional roles with I-Win Advisory Services Limited, McNally Bharat Engineering Company Limited and Hindustan Construction Company (HCC). These experiences have provided him with broad exposure to infrastructure development, engineering, advisory and execution environments, further strengthening his ability to navigate complex projects and stakeholder ecosystems.
Sen Gupta holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), Tumkur, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Construction Management from the National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR), Pune. Complementing his technical and project-management education, he has continued his professional development through executive and specialised programmes, including Finance for Non-Finance Executives at IIM Kashipur and training in Green Homes through CII–Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

His broad sectoral exposure and experience across the project lifecycle position him to contribute to the continued development of GKW Consult’s consulting portfolio and infrastructure engagements in the country.
