Radhey Shyam has been appointed as Programme Director (Implementation) at the National Green Hydrogen Mission Secretariat, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. This prestigious assignment underscores his extensive expertise in the power and renewable energy sector, where he has contributed significantly for more than 12 years, including over 7 years with MNRE.
Throughout his career, Radhey Shyam has been instrumental in the implementation of flagship programs that have shaped India’s clean energy transition. His leadership and execution skills have been pivotal in driving Solar Parks and UMREPPs, Defence Solar Initiatives, GatiShakti-linked RE projects, Floating Solar and Hybrid projects, Viability Gap Funding schemes, and the monitoring and coordination of the National Solar Mission. Beyond government initiatives, he has also contributed to advancing renewable solutions in Data Centers, Transmission Systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and C&I renewable projects across both domestic and international markets.
An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and RTU Kota, Radhey Shyam is a distinguished thought leader in the renewable energy space. He is the author of eight books, has published more than 60 research papers, and holds over 30 patents and designs registered across India, the UK, Africa, and Australia. His contributions extend globally as an IEEE Senior Member & Ambassador, Island Innovation Ambassador, Fellow of SESI and RESI, Member of IET, and a Chartered Engineer with IEI. He also plays a vital role as Industry Coordinator at the Office of Digital Learning, IIT Kanpur, fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and policy.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, is a landmark ₹19,744 crore initiative aimed at achieving 5 MMT of annual green hydrogen production capacity by 2030. It is projected to create more than 6 lakh jobs, attract over ₹8 lakh crore in investment, and firmly establish India as a global leader in sustainable energy.
