Nilanjan Dutta has joined Alvarez & Marsal as Director – AI Advisory, bringing with him nearly two decades of hands-on leadership in data science, machine learning, and AI engineering across global technology, consulting, and enterprise environments. Known for building high-impact AI organisations and delivering enterprise-grade AI products, Nilanjan’s appointment reflects A&M’s growing focus on AI-led transformation for its clients.
Over a 19+ year career spanning BFSI, FMCG, retail, healthcare tech, IT, and food tech industries, Nilanjan has led multiple AI, ML, Generative AI, and analytics teams at scale. Before joining Alvarez & Marsal, he served as Director – AI Engineering at Conga, where he led the global GenAI Centre of Excellence and oversaw the development of Generative AI features across the company’s product suite with a team of 30 data scientists and engineers. His prior experience includes senior leadership roles at HARMAN International, Amazon, Accenture, Adobe, Wipro, Infosys, and Mindtree.
Nilanjan has a strong track record of building and managing AI COEs, creating platforms, and deploying enterprise-grade AI solutions across cloud ecosystems such as AWS and Azure. His work spans LLMs, NLP, text classification, RNNs, transformers, GANs, personalization models, anomaly detection, recommendation systems, bot strategy, ML Ops, responsible AI, and large-scale data engineering. At Amazon, he led worldwide initiatives to reduce product returns using AI models, scaling tools and platforms across 23 global marketplaces.
Throughout his career, he has consistently delivered measurable customer impact—developing AI strategies, defining roadmaps, shipping AI-driven products, and driving adoption across global teams. He has also coached and mentored high-performing engineering groups, established governance models, and architected scalable AI platforms for enterprise customers. His ability to translate business problems into AI-enabled solutions has made him a trusted advisor for large organisations navigating digital transformation.
In his new role at Alvarez & Marsal, Nilanjan will focus on advising clients on AI strategy, engineering, and implementation, while supporting organisations in leveraging advanced AI and Generative AI responsibly and effectively. With his extensive cross-industry experience and deep technical expertise, he is set to play a central role in strengthening A&M’s AI advisory capabilities and accelerating value creation for its clients.
