Sonata Software, a leading $1.2 billion IT services company, has appointed Venkatesan Somasundaram as Global Head of Global Capability Centre to spearhead the growth of Sonata’s GCC business across diverse industries worldwide. In this role, he will focus on strengthening Sonata Software’s global GCC strategy, enabling enterprises to build and scale high-impact capability centers aligned with their long-term digital and business objectives.
A seasoned industry veteran, strategist, and accomplished P&L leader, Venkatesan brings over 25 years of experience in global IT services, solutions, and consultative selling. His career spans business development, delivery, operations, recruitment, presales, and inside sales. He has deep expertise in new customer acquisition, strategic account management, partner management, and team leadership, giving him a holistic understanding of how to build scalable, customer-centric growth engines within large technology organizations.
At Sonata Software, Venkatesan’s expertise in new customer acquisition, strategic account management, partner management, and team leadership is expected to play a key role in expanding the company’s GCC footprint. He is widely recognized for his ability to build and nurture long-term relationships at multiple levels within customer organizations across global markets.
Venkatesan also brings strong experience in managing complex sales cycles, deal structuring, and large, multi-stakeholder bidding processes. His background includes working closely on partnerships, joint ventures, and global outsourcing and offshoring models, capabilities that align closely with Sonata Software’s focus on delivering value-driven GCC solutions.
With this appointment, Sonata Software further strengthens its leadership bench as it accelerates its global GCC ambitions, positioning itself as a trusted partner for enterprises looking to establish, transform, and scale next-generation global capability centers.
Prior to joining Sonata, Venkatesan held leadership roles at Birlasoft, PureSoftware (a Happiest Minds company), Optimum Solutions, and Onward Technologies.
