Mukesh Kumar Choudhary has been appointed as National Head – Legal (Business Banking Group – Litigation & Non-Litigation) at Unity Small Finance Bank, strengthening the bank’s leadership in legal governance and risk management. In his new role, he will lead PAN India legal operations across secured and unsecured lending, ensuring robust compliance, due diligence, and effective litigation & non-litigation management.
An accomplished legal professional with over 20 years of experience, Mukesh brings deep expertise across banking, NBFCs, and financial services. His core strengths include handling complex litigation and dispute resolution, SARFAESI proceedings, DRT, Arbitration, criminal matters, and providing comprehensive legal support for secured and unsecured lending.
Prior to joining Unity Small Finance Bank, he served as Sr. Director – Legal Collections (National Head – Litigation) at Lendingkart, where he led PAN India litigation strategy, managed co-lending and direct lending cases, and built structured legal SOPs. Earlier, at Aditya Birla Finance Limited and Electronica Finance Limited, he played key leadership roles in managing legal processes, due diligence, contract negotiations, and large-scale litigation & non-litigation portfolios.
Over the years, Mukesh Kumar Choudhary has also held leadership positions at SMFG Grihashakti, TVS Credit Services, Hero FinCorp, and Religare Housing Development Finance Corporation, where he successfully managed high-value portfolios as well retail portfolio and reduced NPAs, and drove effective recovery strategies through strong legal frameworks and supported business in non-litigation matters.
In his new role, Mukesh Kumar Choudhary is set to further strengthen Unity Small Finance Bank’s legal and compliance ecosystem. His extensive experience in litigation strategy, Business legal, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation will be instrumental in supporting the bank’s growth while ensuring robust legal governance across its business banking operations.
