Sunil Thekkepat has been elevated as Head – Bancassurance at HDFC Life, marking a significant milestone in his long-standing journey with the organization. Having spent the last five years as Senior Vice President at HDFC Life, he has been instrumental in building and strengthening the company’s bancassurance distribution across Southern India, delivering a consistently strong CAGR and expanding the regional footprint.
In his new role, Sunil Thekkepat will continue to consolidate and scale HDFC Life’s bancassurance network, focusing on deeper partnerships, enhanced distribution efficiency, and sustained growth. His elevation reflects the company’s confidence in his ability to drive strategic expansion in one of the most critical channels for life insurance growth in India.
Prior to HDFC Life, Sunil Thekkepat was a founding member at Canara HSBC Life Insurance, where he spent over 13 years shaping the organization’s growth journey. Starting from the early stages of the company’s formation, he played a key role in building its distribution and sales capabilities, contributing to its emergence as one of the top 10 life insurers in the country. He last served there as National Sales Manager, leading large-scale sales operations.
Earlier in his career, Sunil Thekkepat held key roles at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and Reliance Life Insurance, gaining extensive experience across sales, distribution, and channel management. With over 25 years of rich corporate experience in the insurance sector, his elevation at HDFC Life underscores his deep industry expertise and leadership in building high-performing distribution networks.
