Dr. Amitabh Ranjan has been appointed as Vice Chairman of PanIIT Alumni India, the apex body of over 5,00,000 IIT alumni in India and across the Globe, from 23 IITs. In this prestigious national leadership role, he will contribute to strengthening the alumni ecosystem through strategic communications, institutional partnerships, member engagement, and initiatives that promote excellence in technical education, innovation, and national development. His appointment marks another significant milestone in a distinguished career dedicated to governance, public administration, and institutional leadership.
Currently serving as Registrar of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA)—India’s premier institution for public administration operating under the patronage of the Vice President of India—Dr. Ranjan also serves as President of the IIPA Employees Credit & Thrift Society. As Registrar, he has led institutional strategy, academic governance, financial stewardship, digital transformation, international collaborations across more than 15 countries, and flagship capacity-building initiatives including Mission Karmayogi and several large-scale leadership development programmes for government officials.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Ranjan served as Deputy Registrar (Finance & Administration) at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Deputy Director (Administration) at STQC Directorate, Ministry of Communications & IT, Govt. of India where he established the STQC-IT Centre in Pune and led several digital governance initiatives, and as Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) and Head of IT & e-Governance, Government of Uttar Pradesh, where he pioneered the implementation of the VAHAN and SARATHI e-governance platforms across the state, a reform that transformed the Transport sector across India, leading to people-centric governance and Ease of Living.
With over 28 years of leadership experience across government, technology, public policy, academic administration, and institutional governance, Dr. Amitabh Ranjan has consistently led transformational initiatives that have strengthened public institutions and advanced digital governance in India. His appointment as Vice Chairman of PanIIT Alumni India reflects his exceptional leadership credentials and positions him to further strengthen engagement among IIT alumni while contributing to national development through collaboration, innovation, and institutional excellence.
Dr. Ranjan is an alum of prestigious IIT (ISM), Dhanbad and a Ph.D. in the niche field of Capacity Building in Government sector.
