Dr. Nayanjyoti Goswami has been appointed as Managing Director at Assam Innovation and Startup Foundation (AISF)/(assam startup), a Section 8 company under the Department of Innovation, Incubation and Startups (DIIS), Government of Assam. His appointment comes at a time when Assam is advancing its focus on building a more execution-oriented and investment-ready startup ecosystem. With over two decades of global leadership experience across finance, operations, and enterprise transformation, including roles within leading Fortune 500 organizations, Dr. Goswami brings extensive expertise to this role.
In his new position, Dr. Nayanjyoti Goswami will lead AISF’s efforts to strengthen the startup ecosystem across the state. His leadership is expected to enhance existing frameworks, deepen stakeholder engagement, and contribute to a more connected and outcome-driven environment aligned with national and global trends. Key priorities include improving access to capital, enhancing founder preparedness, and building stronger linkages between policy, investors, and market execution alongwith promoting innovation culture in the state from grass-root level.
Over the years, Dr. Goswami has worked closely with early-stage and growth-stage ventures, advising on financial structuring, governance practices, and scalable operating models. He has also been engaged in startup advisory and consulting assignments, supporting businesses as they move from early momentum to more structured and sustainable growth. In parallel, his work has involved examining how startup ecosystems evolve across policy, capital, and execution contexts, particularly in emerging regions.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nayanjyoti Goswami held senior leadership roles at leading global financial institutions, including Apex Group, State Street, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Northern Trust Corporation, overseeing large-scale operations and complex financial processes across multiple geographies. His experience includes leading cross-functional teams across India, Europe, and Asia, and driving initiatives in governance, financial process improvement, and global capability centers.
Dr. Goswami holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Management Shillong on Corporate Political Strategy and is also an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
Dr. Nayanjyoti Goswami’s appointment reflects AISF’s continued focus on strengthening Assam’s position as an emerging hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, supported by improved capital access, stronger founder capabilities, and closer alignment across key stakeholders.
