Akshay Rakshit has been appointed as Head – Talent Acquisition & Strategy at Hyundai Motor India Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company. In this leadership role, he will be responsible for spearheading strategic hiring, employer branding, policy innovation, young talent development, and HR transformation across Hyundai and Genesis brands in India. With extensive expertise in human resources, Akshay brings with him over a decade of diverse experience across leading automotive and manufacturing organizations.
Prior to joining Hyundai, Akshay was with BMW Group India, where he worked closely with the CEO and CHRO India, aligning people strategy with business goals. His responsibilities included driving talent pipeline planning, employee engagement, and leadership development initiatives while also collaborating with APAC regional teams. His work at BMW Group reflected a strong integration of HR strategy with organizational growth and leadership sustainability.
Earlier in his career, Akshay held key roles at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Honda Cars India Ltd., and Exide Industries. At Maruti Suzuki, he managed industrial relations for the Manesar plant, while at Honda Cars India he focused on compliance, workforce integration, and recruitment at scale. His tenure at Exide Industries was marked by recognition as a high-potential leader, with contributions in HR transformation and employee relations. These experiences enabled him to develop a balanced approach to both workforce management on the shopfloor and strategic decision-making in leadership roles.
Akshay’s journey began with early experiences at Grasim Industries and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages during his internships, where he gained valuable insights into employee engagement, leadership assessment, and organizational behavior. Beyond his corporate roles, he actively contributes as a guest speaker at B-schools, mentors young professionals, and advises HR councils. His Jesuit educational background, combined with a passion for sports and resilience, continues to shape his leadership philosophy and people-first approach.
With his appointment at Hyundai Motor India, Akshay is poised to play a critical role in advancing the company’s people strategy, strengthening its employer brand, and preparing its workforce for the evolving challenges of the automotive industry.
