Amit Kumar has been elevated to the role of President – Asia Region at Birla Carbon, the flagship global carbon black business of the Aditya Birla Group. In his new position, he will serve as the P&L head for the Rubber Business across Asia, leading sales, marketing, manufacturing, and all related business functions while supporting the company’s ongoing regional expansion and capacity growth initiatives. Amit continue to serve as Board Chairman for the company’s Korea, China and a Board Director for India.
A seasoned industry leader with more than three decades of experience, Amit has played a pivotal role in driving manufacturing excellence, supply chain transformation, sourcing, digitalization, and operational performance across global organizations. Prior to this elevation, he served as President & Chief Manufacturing Officer – Asia at Birla Carbon, where he oversaw manufacturing operations across India, China, Korea, and Thailand, while also leading global engineering and HSE initiatives.
Before joining Birla Carbon, Amit was President & Chief Supply Chain & Digital Officer for the Chemicals Sector at Aditya Birla Group, where he led supply chain, sourcing, logistics, manufacturing excellence, working capital optimization, and digital transformation initiatives across the group’s global chemicals, fashion yarn, and insulators businesses.
Earlier in his career, Amit held several senior leadership positions at GE, including Corporate Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Manufacturing, Digital, Sourcing,
Programs, and Supply Chain across Asia. He also held key leadership roles at Honeywell, The Timken Company, and McNally Bharat Engineering Company, building deep expertise in manufacturing operations, procurement, supply chain management, global sourcing, and business transformation.
With extensive experience leading large-scale industrial operations and global business functions, Amit Kumar is well-positioned to accelerate Birla Carbon’s growth across Asia and strengthen its position as a leading global player in the carbon black industry.
