Anand Ramanathan has taken on a pivotal leadership role as the Retail & Consumer Products Sector Leader for Asia Pacific at Deloitte. With over 25 years of deep and diverse experience across multiple consumer-facing industries, Anand steps into this strategic position with a proven track record of driving growth, transforming businesses, and enabling large-scale digital transformations across sectors such as FMCG, ecommerce, agribusiness, hospitality, tourism, electronics, healthcare, and education.
In his new role, Anand will be responsible for accelerating Deloitte’s impact across Asia Pacific—including China, Japan, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, and South Asia—by steering growth in the Agribusiness, Food & Beverages, Apparel & Footwear, Personal & Household Goods, and Retail, Warehousing & Distribution (RWD) sectors. Anand’s appointment reflects Deloitte’s commitment to strengthening its sectoral capabilities and delivering value-driven transformation across a rapidly evolving consumer ecosystem.
Prior to this, Anand served as Partner & Consumer Industry Leader – South Asia at Deloitte, where he led business growth across Consumer Products, Transportation, Hospitality & Services, Retail, and Auto sectors. He was instrumental in leading technology-enabled commercial transformation programs that spanned sales acceleration, marketing strategy, omni-channel execution, service excellence, and distribution effectiveness. Before joining Deloitte, Anand held leadership roles at KPMG, where he headed over 90 strategic consulting engagements and set up centers of excellence in Food, Agribusiness, Retail, and Channel Effectiveness.
Anand began his professional journey at GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, managing flagship brands like Horlicks and Boost. His academic foundation includes a research tenure at IIM Bangalore, where he co-authored publications on sales and marketing and taught at prestigious institutions across Europe and Asia, including Bocconi University, the Norwegian School of Management, and Reykjavik University. Frequently quoted in the media on consumption and consumer behaviour, Anand continues to influence both industry and academia with equal impact.
