Balaji Nuthalapadi has been appointed as Executive Director – Technology and Operations at Equitas Small Finance Bank, effective March 29, 2025. With a career spanning decades in global financial services, Balaji brings with him a strong legacy of leadership in banking operations, digital transformation, and large-scale technology implementation across major institutions.
Balaji Nuthalapadi previously served as Managing Director & Head of Centralized Controls Testing Execution at Citi Bank, where he led the creation of one of the industry’s largest global controls testing teams, comprising over 1,100 professionals. His tenure at Citi also included leadership as Managing Director and Head of Operations and Technology for Citi South Asia, where he managed end-to-end operations and technology functions across India and Southeast Asia. His leadership was pivotal in strengthening Citi’s global capability centers and scaling its digital infrastructure.
Prior to Citi Bank, Balaji held leadership roles in organizations like Oracle Financial Services, HSBC, and Standard Chartered Bank. Throughout his career, he has consistently focused on integrating advanced technologies to streamline operations, enhance compliance frameworks, and drive customer-centric innovation. His extensive experience has been marked by a strong commitment to building resilient and efficient operating models within complex global environments.
