Dharmendra R S has joined Sona Star Private Limited, part of the prestigious Sona Valliappa Group, as Senior Vice President – Hospitality & Tourism. This appointment marks an exciting new phase for both Dharmendra and the Sona Group—one of Bangalore’s most respected legacy business houses known for its immense contributions across Tech Parks, Textiles, Engineering, Medical, and Polytechnic institutions.
As the Group embarks on its visionary journey into the Tourism and Hospitality sector, it aims to transform its extensive land banks across South India into world-class destinations of wellness, leisure, and sustainable luxury. The first milestone in this journey is the upcoming 33-acre flagship resort project at Yercaud, envisioned as a benchmark in eco-luxury, holistic wellness, and experiential tourism—ushering in a new era for destination-driven hospitality in India.
Dharmendra brings with him nearly 25 years of rich experience in the hospitality industry, marked by leadership, innovation, and operational excellence. His professional journey includes 16 years with HM Group as General Manager – Operations, where he managed over 50 Family Entertainment Centres across India and led Chang Hotels Pvt. Ltd., the company behind iconic brands like Three Quarter Chinese, Chutney Chang, Subz, and Amoeba Sports Bar. He later served 8 years with Gigu Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. (Gilly’s Group) as Chief Operating Officer, helping establish one of South India’s most recognized and celebrated hospitality brands.
