Raghav Gupta has been appointed as Head of Education – India & Asia Pacific at OpenAI, bringing with him over 25 years of leadership experience across education, travel, food, and consulting sectors. In his new role, he will focus on shaping OpenAI’s education strategy across the region, leveraging his deep expertise in building scalable businesses and driving digital transformation.
Raghav has an impressive track record of scaling organizations. At Coursera, he played a pivotal role in expanding the platform from 2 million to over 55 million learners, while growing its enterprise client base from 10 to 1,000+ and achieving revenue growth at a CAGR of over 60%. He also built and led Coursera’s Asia-Pacific team, expanding it from 5 to more than 350 members. Earlier, as India Country Manager at BlaBlaCar, he successfully launched and scaled the ride-sharing platform in India, growing it to more than 20 million members. In addition, he co-founded Sucré Patisserie, which became one of the most highly rated patisseries in Delhi NCR on Zomato.
Prior to these entrepreneurial and leadership ventures, Raghav held senior positions in consulting with Booz & Company, Technopak Advisors, Marakon Associates, and KSA Technopak. His consulting work spanned retail, fashion, FMCG, food services, and private equity, where he guided organizations on strategy, operations, and growth. He began his career at Shivam Exports before transitioning into strategic consulting and business leadership.
An alumnus of INSEAD and NIFT New Delhi, Raghav has also contributed to shaping India’s education landscape as part of committees with FICCI, CII, and NITI Aayog’s Project Samshiksha. His career reflects a blend of business acumen, innovation, and passion for education, making him uniquely positioned to lead OpenAI’s education initiatives across India and the Asia-Pacific region.
