Runa Baksi has been appointed as the Managing Director & Cluster Head – South East Asia, Global Trade Solutions at HSBC. Based in Singapore, she steps into this new regional leadership role after a successful tenure as the MD & Country Head, Global Trade Solutions India, where she led for over four years.
With a career spanning more than two decades in trade finance and global transaction banking, Runa brings an exceptional depth of expertise and regional understanding. Her new role will see her overseeing strategic growth and operational execution for HSBC’s Global Trade Solutions business across key Southeast Asian markets.
Prior to joining HSBC, Runa held senior leadership roles at DBS Bank, Deutsche Bank, RBS (including its ABN AMRO legacy), Standard Chartered, ICICI Bank, and EXIM Bank. Her responsibilities have included regional sales leadership, product innovation, and strategic business development, making her a seasoned expert in building high-performing teams and delivering client-centric solutions in trade and working capital.
Runa’s appointment underlines HSBC’s commitment to deepening its trade finance leadership in Asia and supporting businesses in one of the world’s fastest-growing economic regions. Known for her strategic clarity, market foresight, and customer-first mindset, Runa is expected to play a pivotal role in driving the bank’s growth agenda across the region.
