Ujwal Kawale has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of John Cockerill India, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth journey. In his new role, Mr. Kawale will lead the company’s operations, drive strategic initiatives, and strengthen John Cockerill India’s position in both domestic and international markets.
Mr. Kawale is a seasoned global executive with over 18 years of experience in managing complex industrial projects and operations, particularly in the steel sector. He holds an M.Tech in Manufacturing Management from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, a Post-Graduate Program in Management Studies from Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai, and a B.E. in Production Engineering from D.Y. Patil College of Engineering, Kolhapur, Shivaji University.
Before taking on this role, Ujwal served as Global Project Director – Metals Business at John Cockerill Industry, Belgium. In this capacity, he successfully led multi-entity projects across Europe, the US, and India, delivering high-value industrial projects, optimizing operational efficiency, and improving EBITDA through strategic governance and lean execution.
Mr. Kawale started his professional journey with John Cockerill India Limited and TCPL Packaging Limited, where he gained experience across project management, industrial strategy, and production planning. His unique combination of European work culture and Indian execution pragmatism has allowed him to effectively bridge teams across borders and drive performance at a global scale.
As COO, Ujwal Kawale will oversee end-to-end execution of industrial projects, implement innovative strategies, and build an agile organization ready to meet evolving market demands. His leadership, results-driven approach, and focus on sustainability and innovation are expected to play a pivotal role in John Cockerill India’s continued success.
