CXO Lane is pleased to announce the appointment of Saikat Sarkar, one of India’s most respected in-house legal leaders, as Group Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel at TAFE – Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited, part of the Amalgamation Group.
With over two and a half decades of distinguished legal leadership across India and global markets, Saikat is widely recognised for his legal acumen, governance leadership, and ability to align law with business strategy. He brings deep international exposure, having led legal and governance functions across India and International markets. the UK, the US, Asia Pacific, and other international markets. He has held senior leadership and board-level roles in India and overseas, including serving as Global General Counsel at Eicher Motors Limited (Royal Enfield), and has been a trusted advisor to boards and CXOs at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages worked in Hindustan Unilever Limited and was immensely successful in complex, highly regulated environments.
Saikat began his career as a practicing lawyer before the Hon’ble Calcutta High Court, bringing strong litigation and regulatory foundations to his in-house leadership journey. In his new role at TAFE, he will oversee the Group’s legal, governance, risk, and compliance functions across geographies, playing a pivotal role in strengthening governance frameworks, enabling sustainable growth, and supporting TAFE’s expanding global footprint. His expertise spans M&A, competition and antitrust law, ESG, regulatory and government affairs, compliance and ethics, data privacy, dispute resolution, and complex cross-border transactions.
Known for his collaborative leadership style and strong team-building capabilities, Saikat is highly respected for delivering clear, practical, and business-aligned legal outcomes, while fostering strong ethical and compliance cultures. He holds a Law degree from Calcutta University, a postgraduate qualification in Competition Law from King’s College London, is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad, and a Life Fellow Member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), India.
This appointment reflects TAFE’s commitment to robust governance, proactive risk management, and strategic legal leadership as the Group continues to scale globally.
