Basudeb Biswas has joined TARC India as General Counsel, stepping into a key leadership role where he will oversee and strengthen the organization’s legal, compliance, and regulatory framework. With close to 16 years of rich experience in general corporate, real estate and EPC laws and matters, including disputes related to his areas of practice, his arrival marks a strategic addition to TARC’s leadership team, as the company continues to scale in the real estate space.
Throughout his career, Basudeb has consistently demonstrated his ability to handle complex legal mandates across industries and jurisdictions. Before joining TARC India, he served as Zonal Litigation Lead at a leading real estate firm, where he was responsible for managing high-stakes litigation and regulatory matters across geographies. Prior to that, his years as an independent legal practitioner before the Supreme Court of India saw him advising and representing clients on a wide spectrum of matters — from land acquisition and real estate developments to corporate insolvency to employment law, fraud investigations, and infrastructure disputes.
Basudeb’s legal acumen is backed by his strong command over land and real estate laws, tenancy frameworks, contractual structuring and corporate transactions. He has played an instrumental role in advising on, formulating and actioning business transfers, development agreements, title due diligence, labour and employment codes, and policies on compliance, ethics, and workplace integrity. His broad exposure across public sector undertakings and private corporations makes him uniquely equipped to navigate both operational and strategic challenges.
In previous roles with regulatory authorities and thereafter with law firms, Basudeb also contributed to investigations into corporate fraud and compliance violations, gaining hands-on experience in white-collar crime litigation and forensic legal work. His deep understanding of governance, risk, and legal advisory will be crucial in aligning TARC Limited’s legal strategies with its business ambitions.
