Kunal Gothivarekar steps into his new role as Chief Business Officer – Payments Aggregation at Phi Commerce, bringing over 25 years of leadership experience across fintech, payments, and banking. Known for building scalable institutions and driving high-performance teams, Kunal now takes charge of strengthening Phi Commerce’s payments aggregation capabilities at a time when digital payments in India continue to evolve at unprecedented speed.
Kunal’s move to Phi Commerce follows his tenure as Head of Offline Business at Razorpay, where he led the PoS and offline merchant ecosystem during a period of strategic expansion. His leadership was instrumental in scaling distribution, strengthening product-market fit, and contributing to Razorpay’s long-term roadmap toward IPO readiness. Prior to Razorpay, he spent nearly eight years at Fiserv in roles including Country Head – Merchant Acceptance and Global Business Solutions Head – India, where he was responsible for Fiserv–ICICI Merchant Services, Fiserv–IDFC Bank Merchant Services, and multiple merchant acquiring businesses across the country.
Earlier, Kunal held key leadership roles at First Data Corporation and ICICI Merchant Services, serving as Director of Sales, Director of Revenue Assurance for the Asia Pacific region, General Manager, and eventually Board Member at both First Data India and ICICI Merchant Services. He played a pivotal role in transforming the ICICI Merchant Services joint venture into a scaled, profitable merchant acquiring powerhouse. His contributions earned multiple Chairman’s Council recognitions, including the prestigious global Joe Plumeri Award for leadership excellence.
Kunal’s career foundation was built at ICICI Bank, where he spent nearly a decade managing operations across vehicle loans, two-wheeler financing, and national merchant acquiring. From leading zonal teams in Mumbai, Goa, and Madhya Pradesh to heading national acquiring for the Cards Group, he developed a deep understanding of credit, distribution, risk, and product leadership—expertise that continues to shape his strategic approach.
With extensive experience spanning sales, strategy, operations, compliance, and technology, Kunal now joins Phi Commerce to drive scale, build strong institutional partnerships, and accelerate growth in payments aggregation. His unique blend of institutional depth and agile execution positions him to play a transformative role in Phi Commerce’s next phase of growth.
