PropelGo has appointed Sumanta Kumar Panda as Chief Institutional Partnership Officer (CIPO), marking a significant milestone in the company’s mission to transform enterprise payments and institutional banking partnerships. Founded by Sandeep Aggarwal and Arvind Singh, PropelGo is building next-generation B2B payment infrastructure to address challenges in commercial payments, delayed settlements, reconciliation, and enterprise credit. In his new leadership role, Sumanta will spearhead institutional partnerships, strengthen banking alliances, and help accelerate PropelGo’s growth across the financial ecosystem.
A distinguished banking leader with more than 35 years of experience at the State Bank of India (SBI), Sumanta most recently served as General Manager – Transaction Banking, where he led several of the bank’s flagship payment businesses, including Cash Management, Merchant Acquiring, Digital Payment Platforms, FASTag, and UPI initiatives. During his remarkable tenure, he also led SBI’s Enterprise Analytics function and played a pivotal role in driving the bank’s digital transformation. As Information Technology Specialist, he headed the IT management of YONO, India’s largest banking super app, launched YONO For Every Indian (YFEI), and successfully initiated and executed YONO 2.0, significantly enhancing its scalability, capabilities, and customer experience.
Earlier, as Information Technology Application Specialist, Sumanta managed several of SBI’s flagship digital banking initiatives, including the UPI Platform, BHIM SBI Pay, YONO Lite, SBI Quick, and SBI Buddy, helping shape India’s evolving digital payments landscape. Across his distinguished career at SBI, he has built deep expertise in transaction banking, digital payments, enterprise technology, banking innovation, analytics, institutional partnerships, and large-scale financial transformation, making him one of the industry’s most respected banking leaders.
