Appasaheb Kandagal has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smilax Laboratories Limited. In his new role, he will lead the company’s next phase of growth by strengthening its global presence, expanding strategic partnerships, accelerating innovation, enhancing operational excellence, and creating long-term value for customers, employees, and stakeholders.
Appasaheb brings more than two decades of experience in the global pharmaceutical industry, with expertise spanning Generic APIs, CDMO, alliance management, portfolio strategy, supply chain, sourcing, and process engineering. Prior to joining Smilax Laboratories Limited, he served as Head – Alliance Business at Matrix Pharma Corp, where he led the company’s strategic alliance with Viatris and expanded its CDMO business. Before that, he spent over 15 years with Viatris and Mylan Laboratories Limited, leading the European API business, global portfolio strategy, new product development, marketing services, and key commercial initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Appasaheb held leadership positions at Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, where he drove API sourcing and global supply initiatives, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, where he led process engineering, API scale-up, and manufacturing excellence projects, and Gharda Chemicals Limited, where he built expertise in project engineering, plant commissioning, and process optimization.
