Rajat Puri has stepped into the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Premera Blue Cross, bringing with him more than two decades of experience leading global operations, technology functions, and large-scale transformation across the healthcare and technology sectors. In his new role, he will oversee Premera’s end-to-end technology and operational functions, driving efficiency, innovation, and enterprise-wide performance for one of the Pacific Northwest’s most prominent health insurance organizations.
Prior to joining Premera Blue Cross, Rajat served as the President and P&L Leader of Carelon Global Solutions, a $1B business with a workforce of more than 25,000 employees spread across the U.S., India, the Philippines, Ireland, and Puerto Rico. Under his leadership, Carelon Global Solutions became one of the fastest-growing organizations in multiple regions and earned recognition as a Great Place to Work. Rajat not only founded the global operations (previously Legato Health Technologies) but also scaled them into a powerhouse delivering IT, digital, claims, call center, and clinical operations for Elevance Health’s diverse portfolio of healthcare businesses.
Rajat also previously held the role of Chief Operating Officer at Carelon, where he was responsible for the complete operational ecosystem of a $40B healthcare enterprise. His remit covered call centers, provider operations, claims, IT, and PMO, along with oversight of multiple business units including Carelon Rx, Medical Benefits Management, Caremore, Aspire, Beacon, MyNexus, and Carelon Insights. His leadership style emphasized operational excellence, global delivery strategy, and the integration of technology-driven efficiencies across the organization.
Earlier in his career, Rajat held senior leadership roles at Anthem, McKesson, Birlasoft, GE Power, and GE, where he led global sourcing, vendor management, CRM/ERP practices, multi-phase Siebel and Oracle implementations, offshore/onshore delivery models, and large-scale digital transformation programs. His experience spans IT, digital operations, clinical operations, call centers, claims, and enterprise-scale service delivery—making him a seasoned leader with deep cross-functional expertise.
With his extensive global experience, strong operational acumen, and a track record of building high-performing organizations from the ground up, Rajat is poised to make a significant impact at Premera Blue Cross. His appointment marks a strategic step in strengthening the company’s technological infrastructure, operational capabilities, and long-term growth trajectory.
