Shuvarthy Chowdhury has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Coal Pulz Private Limited, marking a significant leadership move within the organization. Having joined the company as Deputy COO in July 2025, his elevation reflects the company’s confidence in his operational expertise and leadership capabilities as it strengthens its presence in India’s evolving coal mining sector. He will continue to serve in parallel as Deputy COO for Mahalaxmi Group of Companies, maintaining both responsibilities across the two organizations.
Coal Pulz Private Limited is engaged in the development and operation of the Namchik Namphuk Coal Block in Arunachal Pradesh, one of the first commercial coal mining ventures in the state. The company operates an opencast mining project with an estimated capacity of around 0.20 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and access to approximately 15 million tonnes of coal reserves. With projected annual revenues of nearly ₹106 crore, the organization is positioning itself as a key contributor to regional economic growth, infrastructure development, and employment generation in Northeast India.
In his role as COO, Shuvarthy Chowdhury will lead end-to-end mining operations, overseeing critical functions such as operational control, annual budgeting, Capex management, and Opex optimisation. He is responsible for ensuring strict adherence to statutory and regulatory compliance while maintaining strong industrial relations. His role also involves active government liaisoning with key stakeholders and the implementation of robust quality and safety management systems across operations.
A key focus area for Shuvarthy Chowdhury will be driving performance across six critical KPIs, including statutory compliance discipline, quality management, safety standards, productivity in coal production and dispatch, project schedule adherence, and cost efficiency. By emphasizing structured project planning, monitoring, and timeline control, he aims to ensure optimal asset utilisation and seamless coordination with technical consultant teams.
With this appointment, Coal Pulz Private Limited is set to further strengthen its operational framework and accelerate sustainable growth. Shuvarthy Chowdhury’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory excellence, and supporting the company’s long-term vision of advancing coal resource development in the region.
