Vaibhav Mittal has joined Orange Smart City as Chief Operating Officer, marking a significant leadership move in India’s urban infrastructure and smart city landscape. In his new role, he will lead the strategy, business growth, project execution, institutional development, and stakeholder
engagement for the landmark integrated township being developed under Maharashtra’s Mumbai 3.0 vision. Spread across more than 1,200 acres, Orange Smart City is being developed by Raigad Pen Growth Centre Limited (RPGCL), a joint venture between Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and a private consortium, with the vision of creating a globally competitive and sustainable urban ecosystem.
Bringing over 26 years of experience across infrastructure, industrial development, investment promotion, manufacturing, public policy, and large-scale project execution, he has established a strong reputation for driving transformational growth and forging strategic partnerships. At Orange Smart City, he will spearhead the development of a future-ready destination for investment, enterprise, innovation, and sustainable urban living while championing governance, ESG initiatives, digital transformation, and stakeholder collaboration.
Prior to joining Orange Smart City, he served as Vice President – Corporate Affairs at The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), where he led corporate affairs, government relations, and public policy initiatives to support business expansion and strategic stakeholder engagement. Earlier, he held senior leadership roles at Reliance Model Economic Township, Mahindra World City, Ascendas-Singbridge, China Fortune Land Development Co., Ltd., GMR Group, Emaar MGF, the Department of Information Technology, and Superb Agrovet Industries, gaining extensive expertise in integrated township development, investment promotion, business development, and infrastructure-led growth.
Throughout his career, he has led several high-impact industrial and urban development projects while working closely with governments, investors, industry bodies, and global partners. His appointment is expected to strengthen Orange Smart City’s vision of becoming one of India’s leading smart urban destinations, driving sustainable economic growth, attracting investments, and creating a world-class ecosystem for businesses and communities.
