Vijay Varshney appointed as Co-Founder & Executive Director at NextG Apex India Pvt Ltd, a Phygital retail deep-tech distribution company, marking a significant leadership move in his distinguished professional journey spanning nearly three decades.
In his new role, Vijay will focus on driving strategic growth, building scalable technology-led distribution ecosystems, strengthening Retail Sales transformation initiatives, and advising the organization on innovation, digital acceleration, and operational excellence. Alongside this, he continues to mentor and support his other startup ventures.
A seasoned technology and business transformation leader, Vijay brings extensive experience across enterprise technology, AI-led retail solutions, mobility ecosystems, cloud transformation, analytics, and large-scale operational leadership. Over the years, he has been recognised for spearheading digital innovation programs, building scalable technology capabilities, and leading multicultural teams across geographies. His experience spans nearly three decades across technology, retail systems, and enterprise transformation.
Prior to joining NextG Apex India Pvt Ltd, Vijay Varshney served as Chief Operating Officer: MEA (Data & Technology), and Director at Smollan India Technology Pvt Ltd, Head of Technology MESA, and Head IT at Hindustan Field Services Pvt Ltd under the Smollan Group SA network. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping technology strategy across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia regions. He led the development and deployment of mobility and data-driven solutions across 50+ countries, managing technology ecosystems supporting over 90,000 field resources globally.
He was also instrumental in establishing the Global Development Centre in India and driving innovations across AI-powered analytics, image recognition, smart shelves, IoT-enabled retail systems, and cloud transformation initiatives. His work has been central to building large-scale digital retail ecosystems and AI-led operational platforms.
Earlier, Vijay spent a substantial part of his career with Hindustan Unilever (HUL), where he evolved from a trainee into a senior technology leader, working across manufacturing, supply chain, branch operations, ERP transformation, and enterprise systems management. His professional journey reflects deep expertise in retail technology, FMCG operations, route-to-market transformation, and business process modernization.
Widely regarded as a pragmatic technology leader and innovation advocate, Vijay has received multiple industry recognitions, including the NDTV-IBM SMART Enterprise Award and various CIO excellence accolades. His appointment is expected to further strengthen NextG Apex India Pvt Ltd’s vision of building future-ready, technology-enabled phygital distribution ecosystems.
