Neeraj Gambhir has been appointed as Executive Director at Axis Bank for a period of three years, effective August 4, 2025, or from the date of approval by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), whichever is later. The appointment was approved by the Bank’s Board of Directors based on the recommendation of its Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Gambhir currently serves as Group Executive – Treasury, Markets and Wholesale Banking Products at Axis Bank. With a distinguished career spanning over 30 years in the Indian financial services sector, he has held several key leadership roles in both domestic and global institutions.
Before joining Axis Bank, he was Managing Director at Nomura India, where he led the Fixed Income business. He also played a foundational role at Lehman Brothers India, where he established the Credit Business, and held senior leadership positions at ICICI Bank, notably in Global Structured Finance and the creation of the Proprietary Trading Group.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, Neeraj serves on the boards of multiple institutions, including Axis Asset Management Company and Axis Pension Fund Management (as Chairman), and he is Vice Chairman of FIMMDA. He is also a member of SEBI’s Corporate Debt Market Development Fund Governing Board.
