Shrirupa Sengupta and Dr. Sudha Chandrashekar have been appointed as CEOs of Swasti, The Health Catalyst, marking a significant leadership transition as the organization accelerates its next phase of growth and advances its mission of enabling one billion healthy days. The appointments reflect Swasti’s continued commitment to strengthening its people-centered public health platform and expanding its impact across health, wellbeing, and systems transformation.
Dr. Sudha Chandrashekar brings extensive experience in public health systems, health economics, policy design, and health systems transformation. Prior to this appointment, she served as Advisor at the Health Systems Transformation Platform (HSTP), where she worked closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and multiple state governments on health financing, public-private partnerships, and large-scale health system reforms. She also serves as a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is widely recognized for her contributions to strengthening healthcare systems and policy frameworks.
Shrirupa Sengupta has been associated with Swasti for more than a decade and has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s strategic direction and institutional positioning. She serves as a member of the Governing Body of Swasti and is also Co-Founder Director of the Centre for Strategic Communications for Public Health at Swasti. Her expertise spans epidemiology, social and behavior change communication, public health advocacy, policy engagement, partnerships, and community-centered development. Earlier in her career, she served with the National AIDS Control Organization under the Department of AIDS Control, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
As Swasti enters its next chapter, both leaders will work closely to strengthen the organization’s platform model, expand partnerships, and drive innovation at the intersection of health and climate. Their combined expertise across public health systems, policy, communications, behavior change, and institutional development positions Swasti to further scale science-driven solutions and create measurable impact for communities. Meanwhile, Dr. Angela Chaudhuri, who has led the organization for over two decades, will transition into an advisory role while continuing to serve on the Governing Body, supporting partnerships, innovation, and ecosystem development.
