David Edward Raj K has been appointed as Managing Director – Food Services & Culinary Innovation at HungerBox, bringing extensive leadership experience across food services, hospitality, culinary innovation, operations, entrepreneurship, and business transformation. In his new role, he will leverage his expertise to drive operational excellence, culinary innovation, scalable growth, and differentiated food experiences for HungerBox.
Prior to HungerBox, David served as Director – Operations & Culinary Innovation at Elior India, where he led PAN-India operations, workforce strategy, P&L, client relationships, and operational governance. He played a key role in reviving the business post-COVID, scaling it from ₹30 crore to ₹400 crore through organic and inorganic growth, while improving margins through cost controls, procurement optimization, and new revenue streams. He also drove culinary innovation through millet counters, wellness menus,
regional formats, and ESG-aligned food strategies while strengthening client partnerships and service standards.
David’s entrepreneurial journey includes co-founding Megabite Food Services, where he scaled a B2B food services business across India, led multi-site operations and full P&L management, and introduced gourmet menus, wellness-focused offerings, live kitchens, and digital ordering solutions. His career also includes House of Derekh | House of Tapre’ and Front Edge Academy, along with extensive hospitality experience at Leela Palace Kempinski Bangalore, Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Park Hyatt Goa, Holiday Inn Downtown Dubai, Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, and Taj Coramandel.
His early hospitality career included serving as a pre-opening team member at Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Park Hyatt Goa, Holiday Inn Downtown Dubai, and Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, providing him with valuable experience in establishing culinary operations, service standards, teams, and guest experiences from the ground up. With a career spanning professional kitchens, hospitality pre-openings, entrepreneurship, large-scale food service operations, culinary transformation, and strategic business leadership, David brings a distinctive combination of culinary expertise and commercial acumen to HungerBox.
