Mat Jones has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of BAI Communications, effective 1 January 2027, bringing extensive leadership experience across telecommunications infrastructure, operations, commercial strategy, and digital infrastructure. In his new role, he will lead BAI Communications as it continues to deliver connectivity and infrastructure solutions across its markets, building on a career spanning more than three decades across telecommunications, infrastructure, engineering, and business operations.
Prior to joining BAI Communications, Mat served as Chief Operating Officer at Amplitel, where he held responsibility for operational leadership within the telecommunications infrastructure business. He also contributed to SiteSee across Product Development & Customer Engagement and served as Advisor – Telecommunications & Infrastructure at H.R.L. Morrison & Co, advising on the Telstra tower sale that resulted in a strategic stake in more than 8,000 telecommunications towers. Earlier, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Operations at Axicom Pty Ltd, building deep expertise in tower infrastructure and operational management.
Mat’s extensive career also includes more than a decade with Crown Castle Australia, where he progressed through several leadership positions including Director of Operations, Director Property & Commercial, General Manager – Downer Crown Joint Venture, and National Program Manager. Across these roles, he developed broad expertise spanning operations, property, commercial management, programme leadership, infrastructure development, and strategic execution within the telecommunications sector.
Earlier in his career, Mat served as an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton and as Senior Project Manager at ABB, building a strong foundation in project management, engineering, consulting, and business operations. Bringing together this diverse experience across telecommunications infrastructure, commercial leadership, operations, and strategic growth, Mat Jones will lead BAI Communications into its next phase of development and continued connectivity innovation.
