Ranjan A Banerjee has been appointed as Executive Director at UNISON Insurance Broking Services Pvt Ltd, where he will work closely with the Board of Directors to strengthen insurance claims management, strategic accounts, customer retention, operations, and people development. In his new role, he will also support the organisation’s growth across large accounts in NCR, Mumbai, and other key markets, while guiding teams on complex property, marine, and miscellaneous claims. His mandate brings together three decades of insurance expertise with a renewed focus on claims settlement, technical excellence, and customer-centric solutions.
Ranjan’s return to claims management marks a return to the foundation of his insurance career. He will support and guide the team across large property claims, marine claims, and miscellaneous claims, including mediation, negotiations, and interpretation of technical insurance policy wordings. Known across the insurance industry for his ability to build new client relationships across geographies, Ranjan has worked across all four dimensions of insurance, with a career spanning P&L leadership, new business, people development, growth, strategic accounts, and claims management. His philosophy remains centred on putting the customer first, reflected in his belief that “Customer comes first and Customer is my God.”
Ranjan began his career with Messrs. Protocol Surveyors & Loss Adjuster, following an earlier association with Gati Cargo Management Service (TCI). These early experiences built his grounding in engineering and marine transit insurance. He then joined Impregilo S.p.A. (now We Build) and Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. in their joint venture for the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Project, where he gained extensive exposure to CAR, CPM, WC, GMC, Political Violence, Reinsurance, expatriate medical and travel insurance. During this phase, he settled claims worth hundreds of crores, developing deep practical expertise across complex insurance matters.
In 2001, Ranjan joined Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance Co. Ltd. as a front-end sales professional and progressed into management, building a career across sales, new business, P&L, client acquisition, growth leadership, and people development. He subsequently held senior leadership positions including Country Head, CEO and Managing Director across the insurance broking ecosystem, with stints at United Insurance Brokers Limited, Vantage Insurance Brokers & Risk Advisors Pvt. Ltd., Palm Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd., African Risk and Insurance Services Ltd., Sarvotam Global, Alliance Insurance Brokers Pvt Ltd, Zoom Insurance Brokers Pvt Ltd, Hakani Bimasolutions Insurance Brokers LLP, and now UNISON Insurance Broking Services Pvt Ltd. His latest chapter brings that
breadth of experience back to claims management, where he will combine technical depth, commercial understanding, negotiation expertise, and customer advocacy to support UNISON’s continued growth.
