Sobhan brings a distinguished career spanning over 40 years, marked by deep expertise in managing the scale and complexity of global telecommunications. His experience includes managing large-scale operations and business transformation for service providers worldwide. He has been instrumental in building globally successful teams to manage global network operations and has led significant R&D initiatives in the fiber optic network domain, He conceptualised the first quantitative benchmarking model for maturity of network operations (TNOM3) based on Malcom Baldrige model with references to eTOM framework. This modeling was nominated for TMForum Excellence Awards in 2012. He was a board member of 3 businesses based out of Australia, New Zealand and Senegal. He is an expert member of national standards bodies in India and active contributor to SG15 group at ITU. Sobhan’s article was one of the 23 articles listed by ITU on the response to the pandemic (Covid-19).

Notably, he has held key roles at Tata Communications Transformation Services (TCTS), where he oversaw global delivery, product development, strategic alliances, global consulting, and P&L leadership across ANZ and international markets.
His recent work at the Advanced Optical Communications Testbed project at IIT Madras involves groundbreaking achievements, including the world’s first field-deployed multicore fiber (MCF) testbed—a consortium blending academia, industry, and R&D. He is also the Founder & Director at Transform-Biz, offering ICT strategy consulting and market enablement services.
